Churchtown Farm Cottages - truro

The cottage was originally a stable block built in the late 1800s and it lies to one side of the original farm yard and is adjacent to the main house. Churchtown Farm was originally the home farm that served the "Big House" a short way up the river - the Pencalenick Estate. The stately home still stands and is now a school. The Farm and land was purchased by the Royal Duchy of Cornwall in the 1930's and it still belongs to Prince Charles. The Farm house and buildings had fallen into disrepair after the war and by 1980 the buildings were used maily for storage. At about this time the buildings were purchased from the Duchy and the main house was extensively renovated. The cottage remained unfinished untill 2003 when they were renovated to provide the current accomodation.
