Caerhays Estate

The estate was originally owned by the Trevanion family since 1390 but the family went broke and fled to Paris in 1840, leaving the Caerhays Castle abandoned for 13 years. A Cornish member of the Parliament, Michael Williams purchased the estate in 1853 and he restored the property. Very soon, the 60-acre woodland and garden sprang to life as the garden floor filled up with shrubs and colorful blooming magnolias, camellias, oaks and rhododendrons.
Take a stroll along the castle gardens, the Caerhays Castle, the gift shop, and Magnolia tea rooms. Experience a luxury break from the routine of your work and stay in one of the eight-bedroom Vean mansion in the Caerhays estate.
The estate also boasts of a secluded beach which is almost unique in Cornwall because of its large expanse of sand and the place is not overlooked by buildings. Families can enjoy a quiet time at the beach free from the noise of motor and speed boats which are prohibited in the area.
Garden enthusiasts can have a feast with the hundreds of colorful blooms from other parts of the world but non-gardeners can still appreciate the unique spectacle of the whole estate.
