Padstow in Cornwall UK

A charming harbour that you can gaze on for hours, gourmet meals by an award-wining chef, a world-famous cycling trail, a slice of Cornish culture, boutique shops on quaint streets...
Padstow, the “olde worlde fishing port”, has all this to offer, and more!

The Harbour
The heart of this North Cornwall town is its fascinating harbour. Sitting on the benches around the harbour and watching life unfold, is an experience like no other. Even Time seems to slow down and absorb the languorous local landscape.... local fishermen at their job, children playing and fishing for crabs, the charming cafés dotting the quay, the medieval houses standing proud...

Cycling on the Camel Trail
This renowned cycling trail has been built on the track-bed of an old unused railway line. Nearly seven miles long, the trail runs parallel to the beautiful Camel Estuary. Sea-gulls, peregrine falcons, wild fowl, and occasional wild rabbits add to the delight of riding on the popular Camel trail. The variegated flowers – 'Padstow Prides', Pink Thrifts, Bluebells and Primroses - growing in wild abandon complete the picture. Be sure to take your camera along!

The Surf's up!
You can ride the perfect surf, swim to your heart's content, sail in the sparkling blue waters, or just laze on warm beaches. 'St George's Well', 'Harbour Cove', 'Tregirls', 'Trevone', 'Harlyn Bay', 'Mother Ivys', 'Booby's Bay', 'Constantine Bay', 'Treyarnon Bay' and 'Porthcothan' - are all private bays with sandy, secluded beaches.

'Obby 'Oss
Every May Day the town comes alive with the 'Obby 'Oss celebration. The locals come together to welcome spring with this 4000-year old pagan tradition. The town is dressed in greenery and adorned with pretty blooms and colourful flags.

The “Old 'Obby 'Oss' and a “Blue Ribbon 'Obby 'Oss” are an integral part of the ritual. Children and adults, locals and visitors, all join in the singing and merriment, and make it exciting extravaganza.

Padstow on a Platter
The vibrant town of Padstow is best known for being the home-town of celebrity television chef Rick Stein. 'The Seafood Restaurant', 'St.Petroc's Bistro', 'Rice Stein's Café' and 'Stein's Fish & Chips' are all tantalizing feathers in his acclaimed chef's cap. The scrumptious sea-fare made from the fresh, local catch, is sure to seduce your senses.

'Fryers' Fish & chips', 'Green's Café' 'Quayside', Margot's', 'Pescadou', 'St.Ervan's', 'The Golden Lion', are the other restaurants that will tease your taste-buds, and leave you asking for more.
