The Camel Trail

The Camel Trail is an 18-mile, traffic free cycle way which cyclists would love, passing through some of the most spectacular countryside areas in the south west. The trail runs along the old railway track which was established in 1834. You can enjoy cycling along the Camel River following easy signs along the way. Every trekking or cycling adventure through the Camel Trail is different from each other. Get lost in the ever-changing experience as you merge yourself into the visual wonders and take in the scents, sounds and shapes that make up the whole Camel Trail challenging.
Unlike modern trails, Camel trail is left to its natural state and there are no tourist attractions on the trail. What you see are occasional idyllic spots to stop, the enchanting forest and the surrounding woodlands and the mesmerizing images of light and shade cast by the trees on the river. Camel Trail gives you the rare chance to be one with nature, to achieve solitude as you go through the quietest part of the trail. Gone are the blaring horns and roaring engines of the cars in the city and you should learn to treasure it.
As soon as you enter old railway cuttings, history emerges and refreshes. You can just imagine that years and years before, the old steam trains ran along the very same line, trains that opened new doors for the average family. The Camel Trail provides you a chance to enjoy the wide array of wildlife, fauna and flora. You can hire bikes in Padstow, Wadebridge or Bodmin if you do not have your own bike.
