Man Gets His Moving Van Stuck In Archway

7

What an entry into the neighborhood when a man gets his moving van stuck in the archway leading into the residential area. Neighbors were astounded that anyone could be that foolish and try to move a van that measured 14ft. 6 inches high through an archway that narrowed to 13ft. 8 inches high.

The stuck van drew the neighbours in Magnolia Court in Liskeard, South East Cornwall, out of their homes to watch the bizarre incident unfold.

The thirty three year old man had all of his possessions in the van when he made his attempt through the arch and got stuck. After deflating the tires and squeezing the van down to its axles it was still too tall to be removed. It became necessary to remove the top of the van before it could be released from its trap.

The atmosphere around the stuck van was entertaining as onlookers watched to see what would be done to get the stuck van out of the arch. The traffic backed up for hours as no one could get in or out of the residential area. Fortunately for the man, neighbours just seemed amused more than anything and no one appeared to have any hard feelings. The man apologized profusely to his new neighbours. It will be interesting to see if anyone invites him to a neighbourhood event in the near future.

The driver of the van will now have to pay for the damages he caused to the archway as well as the loss of his insurance payment for the moving van that he had hired. It certainly turned out to be an expensive moving day for the new member of the community and one he is likely to remember for a long time. And his neighbours are unlikely to let him forget.
