Inner Beauty Crown Goes To Lindsay Ashmore
When NIVEA announced its contest to recognize the inner beauty, Yvonne Ashmore knew her daughter Lindsay should be the winner. She explained in the 100-word contest entry why her daughter deserved to win the title.
Despite having been diagnosed with a malignant brain tumour, Lindsay works hard to raise money for charity. Even though living with a malignant brain tumour for three years she continues to drive herself to fundraise for her chosen charity, the Samantha Dickson Brain Tumour Trust.
The latest MRI Lindsay had showed that the tumour had progressed and she must again undergo chemotherapy. That has not slowed down her fundraising efforts and she epitomizes the meaning of inner beauty. She has managed to raise thousands for the Samantha Dickson Brain Tumour Trust, but often only commends the generosity of others and not her own efforts.
Her reward for being crowned the person with the most inner beauty in the South West is a 1000-pound prize, of which she plans to donate a portion to the Samantha Dickson Brain Tumour Trust. Lindsay does plan to buy herself a little present with some of the prize money. She was quoted as saying, “I couldn’t win that money and not give anything to them, I just couldn’t.” That quote shows the reason she is the deserving winner of the award. She does plan a new iPod and hi-fi with the money, but hasn’t made any more plans for the rest.
The crowning will take place on July 13th, which is Lindsay’s twenty-sixth birthday. Lindsay will be undergoing another MRI in a couple of weeks to decide whether she will need to undergo more chemotherapy for her brain tumour.
The generosity of Lindsay, even while she is undergoing her own crisis, is the very reason that she was awarded the crown. It is people like her who restore faith in human beings as kind and compassionate.
