Brothel Manager Jailed For One Year

Nicola Fenton, aged 28, made as much as 33,000 pounds over the course of a few months on the backs of prostitutes brought from Lithuania.

The woman has admitted to managing the brothels and was responsible for the daily running of the houses. It is not clear from the reports if other people were involved in the business at a higher level than Nicola Fenton.

Her primary function in the business was to take care of the women who were working as prostitutes. She paid rent, found the customers and did the shopping for the houses where the women worked. Nicola Fenton bought the women their clothing, condoms and sex toys so that they could conduct their illicit business. For her part of the work, she got half of the earnings.

The shopping list that the police took from Nicola Fenton’s home told the story. It had listed, clothes, vibrator, condoms, stockings, high shoes and bed. It was indeed a damning bit of evidence of the business that was taking place under Ms. Fenton’s charge.

The girls had been brought from Lithuania where the poverty rate is extremely high. While the story seems to tell a tale of trafficking, the judge in the case does not believe it to be the situation. He does, however, believe that these women were exploited. There is a fine line between exploitation and trafficking.

For her part in the illegal activity, Nicola Fenton received one year of jail time. It is not clear from reports what kind if any the girls received for their part in the crime.

The money that was earned by the women was used to take care of the rent and expenses of the house, and the remaining half of the money would go to Fenton. She used three bank accounts to handle the finances and police found 33,685 pounds among the different accounts.
