industrial | newquay

Lappa Valley Steam Railways is a three-railways-in- one which takes passengers on a mile-long journey from Benny Halt passing through an idyllic Cornish valley going to the leisure park in East Wheal Rose. A visit to Lappa Valley Railways gives you a chance to bond with family members or friends by joining in any of the activities like the canoes and pedaloes, crazy golf, nature walks and for the children, a play area they will not want to leave for home. You should also try the brick path maze designed after Richard Trevithick’s steam locomotive in 1804.
The place is ideal for a trip to the past when locomotive trains was the means of transportation to get from one place to another. The area teems with thousands of wild flowers, ferns and trees which animals, insects and birds consider as home. Opened in 1849, the Lappa Valley Steam Railway runs on one of the oldest railways in Cornwall. It was closed in 1963 but was reopened 11 years later. Three trains operate to serve visitors at the Lappa Valley Railways. These are the main train which is 15" gauge, the 10¼" gauge, and the smallest at 7¼" gauge train.
You can sample delicious coffee while resting in the licensed coffee shop of Lappa Valley Railways or buy souvenir items from the gift shop to take home as memento of your visit.
