The Bay And The Beach
The beautiful bay of Mevagissey opens out into joyful blue waters. This has been the lifeline of the village for centuries. Even today, pilchard and mackerel fishing is a primary occupation for this community.

You can spend hours at the quay watching the colourful life of this village unfold. Fishermen setting off in their variegated boats...small children trying to catch crabs...the sun shining down benevolently...the blue glittering waves...and the pleasant hum of rural conversation...
And make sure you hire a boat and try your hand at fishing...it can be a satisfying and soothing experience.

The beach here is small and sheltered. This private haven has soft, sun-caressed sand, which is just right for sun-bathing. And you can have loads of fun swimming and snorkelling in the delightful waters!

Lost Gardens Of Heligan
A short walk from the village of Mevagissey will bring you to the bewitching Lost Gardens of Heligan. This enchanted rhapsody of flora is spread over eighty acres of land! You will marvel at their large variety of plants and shrubs and be amazed by the sheer beauty of these grounds.

This Garden is home for a rare collection of exotic plants from around the world. The riveting rock-garden, the vegetable garden, the marvellous melon garden, the stylized Italian Garden, and the stunning Sundial garden, will leave you filled with awe.

Mevagissey Folk Museum
This museum is a marvellous heritage treasure. Youll be transported back through time, as you observe their creative displays of Cornish culture. The lifestyles and traditions, of long-ago fishermen and farmers, have been carefully reconstructed. The beautiful exhibits, models, paintings and collections of rare photographs, will fascinate you!

Local Colour

Every June, Mevagissey blossoms to life, and the people come together to celebrateFeast Week.
The Bay is the venue for a plethora of water sports. The locals, dressed in bright fancy dresses and colourful costumes, gather around to cheer for their favourites.
Children put-up delightful shows and participate in model making contests.

As you take-in the regaling and rejoicing, you can tuck-in at the food stalls, which offer loads of Cornish recipes and delicious delicacies. And you can join the locals at the pubs as they guzzle on their beers and make merry!
