Despite the passing of more than seven centuries, the circular, 100-feet diameter shell-keep of Restormel managed to keep the principal rooms of the castle in remarkably good condition. Completely hidden from view by the surrounding lush towering foliage, a guest can only see the castle in all its glory when he has climbed the hilltop.

A description of the Restormal Castle states that the castle is exactly circular in shape and there are no outbuildings or other external defenses present. As it is strategically located on top of a Norman mound, the Restormel Castle commands fantastic views to its surrounding outlaying places. It is also a favorite picnic spot for guests.

The Black Prince reportedly visited the Restormal Castle twice before the castle finally saw action during the Civil War in the year 1644. Bring yourself back to the past and try to imagine what life had been for the early occupants of the castle by taking a tour of the rooms and the other parts of the castle. It is your chance to bring back the feeling of life in the past, or you imagine yourself boarding a time machine and going back centuries ago to feel how they lived in the castle.

Facilities available at the Restormal Castle are parking space, shop, picnic area, and snack bar. Restormal Castle is open to the public from April 1-October 31. They are closed on November 1 to March 20. Admission fee at the Restormal Castle is £2.40 for adults, £1.20 for children and £1.80 for concession. Admission is free for English Heritage members. Groups of 11 persons or more can avail of special price discounts plus free entry for coach driver and tour leader.
