Golitha Falls - liskeard

Located in a wood land, Golitha is a famous beauty spot and the falls can be best viewed after a bout of rain. Golitha falls got its name from the Cornish word “Goleetha” which means “obstruction”. A trip to Golitha Falls would give visitors a spectacular view of a series of cascades in a woodland area on a steep-sided valley gorge. The best months to visit the reservation area is between April and July but the River Fowey and the Golitha Falls can be visited any time of the year.

Golitha Falls is an ideal spot to lose yourself in the beauty of nature in the open meadows and wood lands. You can have the time of your life walking beneath an old planted beech avenue where the trees are protected by a Tree Preservation Order. Golitha Falls is also famous for its recorded 98 moss species, some of which are rare.

Golitha Falls is paradise in its pure form, a real treat in exchange for a day cooped inside an office with piles of paperwork to be done. Listen to the rushing water of the falls as you breathe in fresh air from the plants and wildlife around you. The area is also home to bats, 30 species of breeding birds, 83 moth species, and multi-colored local butterflies. A day at the Golitha Falls is a real treat indeed for tourists and visitors.

Facilities at the Golitha Falls reservation area include a car park, camping and caravan site, well-defined trails and visitors information panels. For details or more information you may check the Liskeard Town Council website or email the Liskeard tourist information office or the Cornish Tourist Board website.
