The Porthcurno Telegraph Museum dragged the valley of Porthcurno into the limelight in 1870 as it became the center of global telegraph communications for using the first undersea telegraph cable which connected Porthcurno to Bombay. During those times, high speed communications was not thought of yet, hence the valley got attraction for having the most important communication centre in the world. Porthcurno took center stage from the late 19th century until the WW11 ended.

Visit the Porthcurno Telegraph Museum to relive the feeling of what it was like to be in the area when the telegraph was used to transmit secret messages around the world during the WW11. Get a chance to see the pieces of working equipment preserved through the years. Porthcurno stopped its operation on its 100th year and reopened as a museum. You can view the museum exhibits in the tunnels, at the Instrument room, at the Cable testing room and at the Workshop which is at the North tunnel. You could also see the showcases in the south tunnel that serves as a Maritime room and demonstration area at the same time.

To entertain and educate locals and tourists about the museum, special events and holiday activities are being conducted during the summer and half-term holidays. This is also aimed to bring over a huge number of family visitors. Admission free is £4.95 for adults, £2.75 for children, and £4.40 for seniors and £12 for family.
