Our guests have written some lovely comments in our guest book. One said: "Our predecessor who said this flat was a delight is absolutely right!" Others said, “”Lovely Holiday in a beautiful area – and in a perfect, well-appointed apartment filled with thoughtful touches.” “Perfect location, perfect flat, everything we wanted and more.” “What a wonderful flat. It fulfilled our expectations. So lovely to be able to wonder out into the main street and suddenly be in the hustle and bustle of Fowey. The perfect place to unwind and recharge our batteries.”

The Salt Loft is in a quiet backwater behind a closed alleyway door, so is literally a minute from bustling Fore Street, with its fish shop, mini-market, Post Office, butcher, baker – and candlestick maker! Fowey has 26 restaurants, pubs and cafes, serving everything from expensive haute cuisine to cheap cooked breakfasts.
Once a smugglers’ haunt, Fowey is at the mouth of an estuary and looks across at National Trust woodlands and the little boat-building village of Polruan. Ferries run at each end of Fowey all year - the car ferry landing at Bodinnick, where Daphne du Maurier wrote "The Loving Spirit", the foot ferry plying back and forth to Polruan,
In summer, boat trips head for pretty Polperro in one direction, Mevagissey in the other, and there are trips up river to Lerryn (and Lostwithiel when the tide allows). It is also possible to hire a boat or take a canoe trip.
Several wonderful walks can be embarked on from the front door: along the coast, Polridmouth is where Daphne du Maurier based scenes from “Rebecca”.
There are several lovely gardens to visit in the area, including The Lost Gardens of Heligan at Mevagissey, and Pine Gardens at St Austell, while the National Trust's Lanhydrock is about 10 minutes' drive.
Fowey now has an excellent Town Bus.
