Dubbed by many as “an experience as alive as the sea”, the boat collection tells volumes of stories over the years of the special relationship that existed between the people of Cornwall and the sea.
The museum is located at the busy Falmouth harbor and the Carrick roads.
Once inside the National Maritime Museum, you will be transported into the past through the audio-visual stories, film footages, soundtracks and still images that contains interviews with the people who use boats like sailors and boat designers. You will get to see a glimpse of how their lives evolved around boats.
A tour of the National Maritime Museum gives you a chance to visit the gallery where a wide collection of boats showcased. The boats were used for work, pleasure, rescue, for racing and for other purposes designed by famous people. Visitors, particularly the young children can have a hands-on experience by sailing a radio-controlled boat in a pool at the waterfront. This would be an unforgettable experience for kids. You will also get an idea of how boats were made and propelled in the water through the workshops.
