Museum of Witchcraft
museums-galleries | boscastle

Located in the beautiful Cornish village of Boscastle for the past 40 years, the museum offers visitors a glimpse into the wonderful yet sinister world of witchcraft. The museum is divided into sections, with each covering a different area of interest in witchcraft. This Cornish attraction is particularly appealing to those who are interested or involved in the occult, but even if you are not into occult, you can still visit the museum. This is a one-stop showcase which may give you an idea what it feels to be a witch in the modern times.
Take a walk into the overwhelming confines of the museum filled with witchcraft memorabilia and ceremonial objects. The place should definitely be on your list of places to visit when in Cornwall. The museum was devastated by the flashfloods in 2004 but it was refurbished later.
The Museum of Witchcraft was opened in 1951 by Cecil Williamson, a former film producer, tobacco farmer and wartime secret agent at the Isle of Man but he was asked to leave after getting a negative perception from representatives of the Royal family about his witchcraft collection. He kept moving his collection many times until it finally found its place in Boscastle. In its present location, the Museum of Witchcraft is getting a fair share of tourists every year.
Visit the place for an experience you can never get from anywhere else. Some artefacts in the museum which were made up or donated found its way among the exhibits. The Museum of Witchcraft is open from April through October from 10.30 a.m. to 6:30 pm Mondays to Saturdays, and 11:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. on Sundays.
